Phase II: Remove

biofilm disruption

Often this step is where many people get discouraged. This is because as biofilm begins to break down, the body is left to process all of the waste that is leaving the body all at once. This can sometimes put a strain on the detox channels for a brief period of time and you may experience what is called a “Herxheimer reaction” “die-off reaction”, or “herxing”.

This is normal and is actually a good sign that the biofilm protocol is working. However, you may feel extra tired, achy or feverish for a period of time as this process of biofilm disruption takes place.

But this is really good news as it means that it is working and you are eradicating these unwanted colonies from your body. The only thing to be careful of is to go slow here and don’t push it. As a rule of thumb, you want to slow down if you start to feel like it’s too much to handle or it’s going on for longer than a 3-5 days. You don’t want to do any more damage to your body here.

Colon hydrotherapy can be a lifesaver at this point in the program and you will be helping the colon and liver remove this waste buildup that likely has been building up for years in your body. Treat yourself gently here as this can often be the most challenging phase of the protocol.

Food: Following a proper eating plan is absolutely critical with this protocol and skipping this portion is almost certainly going to hold you back. The most important thing to remember is you don’t have to follow the plan forever. Just for a period of time while you starve the pathogens. Their main food source is sugar. Even sugar from starches and carbohydrates (not veggies).

Essentially, you’ll want to avoid sugar, grains, dairy and alcohol. All of these are favorite food sources for pathogens! Once you starve off a large portion of pathogens for a period of time, you can go back to a more standard eating plan if you find it still works for you. I am able to go off plan for periods of time, however, I find my body performs and feels best if I limit my sugars and grains. Lots of water and fiber are critical here.

The ideal diet here is Paleo style. Think mostly clean protein and vegetables here. Keep it simple. Drinking bone broth daily will provide incredible bio-available nutrition while helping to rebuild the intestinal wall. Avoiding FODMAP foods and GMO’s are also highly recommended here.
